The Dinks are a tribe of little people who live on the Moon of Vega and work for Yogurt. They are parodies of the Jawas from Star Wars. Their language consists only of the word, "Dink", and they also sing the Colonel Bogey March (dubbed "The Dink March" on the soundtrack) as they walk in the desert.
In the movie
While marching, the Dinks find Lone Starr,Princess Vespa, Barf, and Dot Matrix unconscious from the heat. The Dinks replenish the heroes, then lead them to Yogurt's lair. The Dinks and Yogurt shill some merchandise, then let the crew spend the night with them. When Dark Helmet kidnaps Vespa and Dot, the Dinks awaken Lone Starr and Barf to alert them. They are last seen accompanying Yogurt as he bids farewell to Lone Starr and Barf, at least until Spaceballs 2: The Search For More Money.
Trivia
- The Dinks are frequently seen throughout Spaceballs: The Animated Series being comically killed by Lone Starr.
- Their costumes and height make them bear slight resemblence to the Seven Dwarfs from Snow White, as noted when Lone Starr asks, "When did we get to Disneyland?"
- The Spaceballs Collector's Edition DVD includes an option in the Languages menu to watch the movie in Dinkese. Selecting it brings up a message explaining that the Dinks tried to dub the movie in their own language, but went on strike before they could finish. Conseqently, only one scene exists, which features Dark Helmet and Colonel Sandurz exasperated over the Eagle 5 escaping their grasp.
